Effective date: June 4, 2026 · Applies to the Drink More Water Android and Wear OS app
Drink More Water (“the app”) is published by Trailing Stop Loss (trailingstoploss.com). This policy explains what data the app handles, where it lives, and what (little) ever leaves your device. The short version is the honest version:
Data the app stores — on your device only
To do its job, the app saves the following locally on your phone (and, if paired, mirrors a daily summary to your watch):
- Hydration logs — drinks you record, amounts, drink types, custom drinks, and daily totals.
- Goals, streaks, and achievements — your daily target, adjustments you enable (such as workout or weather bumps), streak counts, and milestones.
- Optional check-ins — mood and headache entries, and sugary-drink swap counts, if you choose to log them.
- Caffeine estimates — derived from the drinks you log, if you use caffeine tracking.
- Settings — units, reminder schedule, appearance and sound choices, and similar preferences.
None of this is transmitted to us. Deleting the app’s data or uninstalling the app deletes it (see Data retention and deletion).
Data that can leave your device, and why
A small number of features talk to outside services. Each is optional, each sends the minimum needed, and none includes your identity or your hydration history:
Weather-adaptive goals (Open-Meteo)
If you enable weather-adaptive goals and enter a city, the app sends that city name (and the resulting map coordinates) to the Open-Meteo weather service to fetch the local temperature. No account information, device identifier, or hydration data is included. If you never enable this feature, no weather requests are made.
Health Connect (Google)
With your explicit permission, the app reads activity data (such as workouts) from Health Connect on your device to adjust your daily water goal on exercise days. Health Connect data is processed on your device only. We do not transmit Health Connect data off the device, do not use it for advertising, and do not share or sell it to anyone. Our use complies with the Health Connect permissions policy, and you can revoke access at any time in Health Connect settings without losing other app functionality.
Purchases (Google Play Billing)
Premium subscriptions and the lifetime unlock are processed entirely by Google Play. We never see or store your payment details. Google provides the app with a purchase token solely to confirm your entitlement. Google’s handling of your payment data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
Feedback (only if you send it)
If you use the in-app “Send feedback” form, the message you type (and any contact detail you choose to include) is delivered to us via the Formspree form service. This is the only way the app ever sends us anything, and it happens only when you press the button. Formspree’s handling is governed by the Formspree Privacy Policy.
Android Auto Backup (Google)
Android may back up the app’s data to your Google account so your logs survive a new phone. That backup is created and encrypted by Android, tied to your Google account, and inaccessible to us. You can disable app backups in your device’s Google settings.
Wear OS sync
If you pair the watch app, your daily progress syncs between your phone and watch over Google’s on-device Data Layer. This is device-to-device sync within your own hardware, not a transfer to us.
What we don’t do
- No advertising, ad SDKs, or ad identifiers.
- No analytics or tracking SDKs.
- No selling, renting, or sharing of personal data — we don’t possess it.
- No precise device location collection. Weather uses only the city you type in.
- No data collection from children. The app is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13.
Data retention and deletion
Because your data lives on your device, you control it directly:
- Delete everything: uninstall the app, or clear the app’s storage in Android settings.
- Delete the cloud backup: manage or remove app backups in your Google account’s backup settings.
- Health Connect: revoke the app’s permissions in Health Connect at any time.
- Feedback messages: to have a feedback submission deleted, contact us using the address below.
Notifications
Hydration reminders are generated on your device. On Android 13 and later the app asks for notification permission, which you can revoke at any time in system settings. Reminder timing preferences never leave your phone.
Changes to this policy
If the app’s data practices change — for example, if a future feature introduces a new service — this page will be updated and the effective date revised before that change ships.
